Bas Relief Plaster Painting

Inspired by early Renaissance relief work students will create their own paintings using plaster.

The starting point of this project will be drawings done outside of the local 'urban landscape'. Students will then construct a 3-dimensional painting, which they can choose to be either abstract or figurative. As well as the Renaissance influence, students will look of the work of modern artists such as Henri Matisse, Raymond Mason and Anselm Kiefer.

Techniques covered will include:

• Mixing/construction with plaster
• Bas-relief work
• Watercolour

An exhibition of work at 3.50pm on Thursday.

Tutor: Noel Paine

Noel is a painter living and working in East London. Urban themes dominate his work and he has exhibited widely. As well as being an artist, Noel is an experienced teacher who enjoys encouraging creative talent.
